How to download Instagram photos in full size
A screenshot gives you a squashed copy with your status bar in it. The full-size file is better — it's the exact JPG Instagram stored, sharp enough to repost with credit or print. Here's how to grab it on any device using the photo downloader.
On iPhone and iPad
- Open the photo in the Instagram app. Tap the three dots and choose Copy link.
- Open this page in Safari, paste the link, and tap Download.
- The JPG saves to Files. Open it there and use Share → Save Image to send it to Photos.
On Android
- Tap the share icon on the post and choose Copy link.
- Paste it into the downloader in Chrome and tap Download.
- The image lands in Downloads and shows up in Gallery.
On a computer
- Copy the post's link, or the URL from the address bar.
- Paste it into the downloader and click Download.
- The full-size JPG saves to your Downloads folder.
Downloading a whole carousel
If the post is a carousel — the kind you swipe through — you don't have to save each photo separately. Paste the post link and you get a Download button for every image in it, in order. The third and fourth slides are there too, not just the cover.
Common questions
Do I get the full resolution?
Yes, you get the file Instagram stored, not the small preview a screenshot would capture.
Can I download someone's profile picture?
Profile pictures are handled differently from posts. This guide covers photos inside posts; a full-size post image is what you'll get here.
Why won't a photo save?
The account is probably private. Only public posts can be reached.
