How to download Instagram reels
Saving a reel takes about ten seconds and doesn't need an app or your login. You copy the reel's link, paste it into the reel downloader, and get a clean MP4 back — sound included, at the size it was posted. Here's the same thing spelled out for each device.
On iPhone and iPad
iOS is a little fussy about where downloads land, so this is the one worth reading closely.
- Open the reel in the Instagram app. Tap the paper-plane or the three dots, then Copy link.
- Open this page in Safari and paste the link into the box.
- Tap Download. The file saves to Files, not Photos.
- To get it into your camera roll, open Files, find the MP4, and use Share → Save Video.
On Android
Android is simpler — downloads go straight to your gallery in most cases.
- In the Instagram app, tap the share icon on the reel and choose Copy link.
- Open the downloader in Chrome, paste the link, and tap Download.
- The MP4 lands in your Downloads folder and usually shows up in Gallery too.
On a computer
- Open the reel in your browser and copy the URL from the address bar, or use Copy link on the post.
- Paste it into the downloader and click Download.
- The file saves to your browser's Downloads folder.
A few things worth knowing
- The reel has to be on a public account. Private profiles don't share their media with anyone who isn't a follower.
- You get the video with sound, not a muted clip.
- If the download won't start, re-copy the link — a half-copied URL is the usual culprit.
Common questions
Is there a watermark?
No. You get the reel as Instagram stored it, with no extra watermark added.
Can I save just the audio?
Yes — the downloader can hand you the sound on its own as an MP3 if that's all you want.
Why can't I save this reel?
It's almost always a private account or a deleted post. Public reels work; private ones can't be reached.
